Route Optimization for Auto Parts Delivery ​

Business Problem

A client, a leading auto parts distributor in the USA, was facing challenges with their auto parts delivery system. They were using a traditional route planning system which was leading to inefficient routes for their auto parts delivery. This resulted in an increase in transportation costs and delayed deliveries. The client needed a solution to optimize their delivery routes for 535 stops overnight, with a 12-hour window from dispatching, and with specific volume, equipment required and delivery time windows.

Our Solution

Our team was engaged to design and provide efficient routing for the auto parts delivery, considering specific volumes, equipment required, and delivery time windows. We analyzed the data provided and used PLS, our proprietary AI-powered logistics network design and optimization platform, to optimize the routes for the 535 stops taking into account the geographical location of each stop. We were able to design an efficient route plan that reduced the overall travel distance/miles and number of resources required to complete the deliveries. Our solution ensured that all the requirements and constraints are met and not violated.


Our design was 25% less miles and resources required than their current solution. This resulted in a significant cost reduction for the client, who was now able to complete deliveries more efficiently and in a timely manner.

PLS also significantly reduced planning time by 80%, which allow the client to spend more time on other critical aspects of their business.
